TRANSFORMASI PENDIDIKAN PESANTREN DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER SANTRI PEDULI LINGKUNGAN DAN SOSIAL: STUDI KASUS DI SABILUL MUTTAQIN MOJOKERTO
Abstract
Pesantren education played a significant role in the character building of students, particularly in fostering awareness of environmental and social responsibility. This research aimed to analyze the transformation of education at Pesantren Sabilul Muttaqin Mojokerto in shaping environmentally and socially conscious characters among its students. The research methodology employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The findings indicated that Pesantren Sabilul Muttaqin Mojokerto undertook an educational transformation through a curriculum based on Islamic values, direct practical instruction such as greening activities and community service, and the habituation of environmentally and socially responsible attitudes in the daily lives of the students. This transformation positively impacted the students' increased awareness and active participation in preserving environmental sustainability and assisting the surrounding community. In conclusion, the education at Pesantren Sabilul Muttaqin Mojokerto, which integrated religious values with social and environmental practices, successfully shaped students' characters to be caring and responsible. As a recommendation, it was hoped that the pesantren would continue to develop innovative programs that strengthened the role of students as agents of social change and environmental conservation.
