GRAJAGAN GUYUB RUKUN TOLERANSI JADI KUNCI PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI MASYARAKAT DESA
Abstract
Grajagan Village, located in Banyuwangi Regency, Indonesia, offers a compelling case of how interreligious tolerance serves as a vital foundation for local economic growth and social welfare. Amid religious and cultural diversity, the community embraces a spirit of unity and mutual respect, which is manifested in collaborative activities across economic, social, and environmental sectors. This study aims to explore how values of tolerance and interfaith cooperation foster economic development at the grassroots level. Employing a qualitative methodology, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of community-based initiatives. The findings reveal that strong social cohesion among religiously diverse residents creates a conducive environment for joint economic ventures, such as cooperatives, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and community-based tourism. Additionally, collective actions like environmental clean-ups reflect the practical integration of tolerance into daily life. Tolerance in Grajagan is not merely a moral ideal but a functional social capital that enhances economic resilience and sustainability. This research contributes to the discourse on inclusive development by demonstrating how religious harmony can be a strategic asset in promoting community-driven economic empowerment and sustainable village advancement.
