Abstract

The principal's management strategy has an important function in minimizing the occurrence of conflict and increasing the chances of success of school goals through controlling educational conflict. The aim of this research is to analyze the identification of potential conflicts, the classification of potential conflicts and the management strategies of school principals in managing educational conflicts. This research approach is qualitative with a case study type of research. The location of this research is Roudlotussalam Watu Kebo Blimbingsari Banyuwangi Middle School. The key informants in this research were the school principal, guidance and counseling teacher, deputy head of student affairs and the committee. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. To test the credibility of the data, the researcher carried out triangulation. Data analysis in this research uses the Miles, Huberman and Saldana interactive analysis model, namely data condensation, data display and conclusion drawing. The results of this research are (1) identification of conflicts through observation, reports and direct interactions, (2) classifying potential conflicts as serious or not, needing serious handling or not, aiming to find appropriate solutions and strategies, (3) strategic management of school principals through: First , analysis planning every month through meetings involving the principal, guidance and counseling teacher, deputy head of student affairs and the committee. Second, conflict resolution through deliberation involves a mediator (committee). Third, evaluate conflicts through monthly meetings to resolve and anticipate conflicts by involving related parties
